Parveen Sood Obituary

Nashville, TN - Parveen Sood - Mother, Artist and Entrepreneur.

Born in 1951 she was raised by Inderjit Rai a learned scholar of religion and science and his wife Parkash Vati, a diligent and dedicated homemaker. Rai was instrumental in developing a sensitive and sensible daughter who was compassionate and loving. Her mother helped her to become resilient. Early studies included music, arts, and educational training. She graduated with a B.A. in Education. In 1973 she met Bhupinder Sood and married. She arrived in the US in the early 1970s and settled in Nashville.

She was a bright, artistic, kind, and generous person. A painter from an early age with a refined aesthetic sensibility, she continued painting all her life. Song and dance were also great passions of hers. She loved life, lived fully, and travelled extensively always finding joy in simple pleasures while making the world a better place within the reach of her arm. There were no strangers just people she hadn't met.

She was an excellent homemaker, a brilliant cook with an inquisitive mind and exquisite taste.

She took a genuine interest in people and loved to help others. She learned sales early on and started working in shoe sales in Atlanta and subsequently in Nashville. She continued at Jensen Shoes where she worked hard and developed a reputation for straight talk and helping people find comfortable footwear to better their lives. After several years in 1993, she and her husband opened Prop-R-Fit shoes in Green Hills. She was determined and decisive, focused on bringing European comfort shoes and orthotics in an early era. Always with an eye toward innovation, she operated a successful business for many years. In 2008 she and her husband relocated to La Jolla, which was her favorite place in the world. She loved the water and the ocean in particular; it's where she felt most at home. After a few years she returned to Nashville.

In 2021 on a trip to Los Angeles, she was diagnosed with cognitive decline by Keck Medical USC and received treatment in Nashville, but the decline continued and she was recently admitted to a nursing home and merged with the Infinite at the first full moon on January 3, 2026.

She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Bhupinder Sood, and son Jolly Sood.

Friends and family gathered on Thursday, January 8th to celebrate her life.
