It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Melinda (Haynes) Smith, a cherished wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who graced this world with her radiant presence from November 12, 1966, until her departure on June 12, 2025. Born to Felix Grundy Haynes, Jr. and Peggy (Webb), Bettes imbued warmth and love in everything she touched, and her legacy continues through those whose lives she enriched.

Melinda's life was one marked by love, grace and kindness. She was the owner of Luxe Detailing, Transportation Partners & Mel's Sweet's, extraordinaire and accomplished baker/caterer. She touched so many lives with her nurturing spirit that made everyone feel at home. She was a vibrant soul with a glowing personality. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1985.

Melinda joins her departed family members, father Felix Grundy Haynes Jr., sister Teresa Haynes Wade, brother James (Jimmy) Paty Bettes Jr, stepfather James Paty Bettes in eternal rest, where they continue their bond with her.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Smith of Pleasant View, TN.; her mother, Peggy Bettes of Lena, MS; son, Josh (Meghan) Moore of Gallatin, TN; stepsons, Joe (Kayla) Smith and Joshua (Andrienne) Smith; seven grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Glen) Prestage of Lena, MS, Angie Robinson of Alabaster, AL; brother, Felix (Jessica) of South Haven, MS; stepmother, Cheryl Guffey of Gallatin, TN; special friends, Charlene, Penny, Lisa, Renee, Traci & Anthony; several nephews, nieces

and cousins.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, June 28,2025 at the American Legion, Donelson, IN, by family and friends.

As we reflect upon the life of Melinda Haynes Smith, we are reminded of the indelible mark she left on all of who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her light will continue to shine through her family and friends.
